Final Section
The Lincoln Highway Association favored the route south of Wendover between Dugway and Gold Hill as a cutoff across the Great Salt Flats. This route became known as the Goodyear Cutoff due to a donation by the Goodyear Tire Company.
Loneliest Oldest Road
The Loneliest Road in America is also one of the oldest highways in Nevada. Labeled the Loneliest Road by a journalist some 20 years ago, it was also the route of the Lincoln Highway.
Pioneers Unit
In 1921 the Nevada State Legislature created a branch of the Lincoln Highway from Fallon (Leeteville Fork) to Carson via Dayton and Lahontan Dam. The approved funding to build a road along that section of the route.
